Both CalMail and bMail may block email messages originating from sites hosted on Pantheon. This is because Pantheon does not run a mail server, instead using a free SMTP service. CalMail and bMail will mark it as spam and block it even before it reaches the recipient's spam folder. Other mail providers may accept it.
If you need your site to send email to berkeley.edu email addresses, review the information on Pantheon's website regarding CMS Email Service.
To set up Google email for your Pantheon-hosted site, you will need to use a SPA and obtain an App Password for it. More information on the process for setting this up can be found in the following Knowledgebase articles:
- KB0014212: How to Create a Google App Password
- KB0010997: How to use a Special Purpose Account to configure sending scan-to-email documents (review the information in part 2 of this KB)
If you use Google to send email, do not use a personal email address - bMail, Gmail, or other. Your email password or your CalNet passphrase will be at risk.
